All of the students in Kindergarten through Second grade will benefit from the items listed in this project. The books I have chosen will be used for classroom guidance, group counseling, and individual counseling. I believe that the books I have chosen will provide students with a literacy-rich environment while learning social-emotional skills that they need to learn. Prevention is very important at this age and I feel as if the books will aid in the prevention lessons for all students K-2.
"When students feel safe and supported, they are truly able and ready to learn"
by Laura Weaver and Mark Wilding
I have chosen many games that students will be able to use in my office. The games are social-emotional games as well as games used to aid in creating positive relationships with students. Along with the games, I chose fidget and sensory objects. Providing opportunities for children to actively use their senses as they explore their world through 'sensory play' is crucial to brain development. This helps children, as well as adults, retain information. To organize all of the materials for my project, I have included a rolling cart. This will be used to categorize the books, fidget objects, sensory materials, and games.
