Hands on learning is more engaging and effective. Through engineering projects kids learn the process: Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Improve and Present. Students will be given specific criteria and constraints for their challenges. The complexity can be increased as the students knowledge and experience grows.
Projects created with Strawbees are able to be redesigned and improved without ruining the integrity of the initial structure. Students will work in their groups to create their projects, present them to their classmates get feed back and make improvements. We will practice doing stand ups, where the students just say what they did, where they got hung up, and what they will do next. It will be a very concrete way to show how all of the steps of the engineering design process work together.
