The Hokki stools, Wobble chairs, and backpatter's seats I am requesting for flexible seating in my classroom will be used to increase student performance and attentiveness. These items will be used by students to create and foster a classroom environment conducive to individualized learning styles. Students will be allowed to choose which environment works best for their individualized learning style.
Flexible seating incorporates each child's response to learning in a unique and individualized way. The ability for a student to work and move around the classroom not only engages their mind, it also engages other biological systems throughout their body as well. Research shows the ability for a child to move throughout the day increases mental stimulation, blood flow, oxygen levels, and energy levels. Classroom environments with flexible seating promote a healthy and active lifestyle for children instead of a typical sedentary classroom environment where students are often sitting for multiple hours a day.
I feel like flexible seating will have a positive impact on classroom behavior, classroom participation, and student success. Thank you for taking time to review my project.
