My students have been wanting a 3D printer to make some of the STEM ideas and PBL projects come to life! However, a 3D printer can only do one project at a time. For this reason, I have included 3D Doodle Pen for smaller scales. Since my students are digital natives, they live in a world of unknown future STEM careers. I am tasked with creating an environment to foster their own creative thoughts.
Students can create kinetic artwork that will tap into their creative processes as well as demonstrating their scientific knowledge. By giving students a chance to use the 3D printer as well as the 3D Doodle Pen, students can make their doodles and inventions come alive. Seeing their ideas become an actual object will give validity to their own learning. This makes the learning more authentic.
In addition, students can work with our community to identify ways they can improve our community. From creating artwork for the city to bionic arms (or eyes or legs), students will be able to provide viable solutions to everyday problems.
