All students learn differently, regardless of their abilities. Because of the many different needs of my students, not all of them learn best from sitting in traditional desks.
For my students who struggle with sitting still for an entire class period, standing desks will greatly enhance their learning, so they are up and able to move their bodies safely during instruction. Bean bags will be beneficial for my students who do their best work while they are comfortable. During whole group instruction or independent work, I know my students will be grateful for being able to learn how they choose.
For my students who struggle with self advocacy skills, having the opportunity to let me know how they learn best will greatly improve their awareness of their own learning styles and how they are effected during instruction. Giving students the autonomy to learn how they want will give them a greater sense of ownership over their own learning.
About my class
