My students need math manipulatives for conceptual understanding and increased engagement. There is something magical about being able to explore mathematical concepts with math manipulatives.
Math manipulatives give students a real world, concrete example of how math concepts work. My students will use these in small groups, in math menu/exploratory learning, in whole group, and as a scaffolding tool. My students will be taught how to use these manipulatives for learning and to have extra support when they need it. Students will be encouraged to use the math materials to test and prove/dispute their own conceptual understanding and theories about varying math concepts. My students will be so fortunate to have these materials to enhance their mathematics education.
