In my first year teaching, I quickly learned the importance of starting the day with a read aloud on the rug. The more engaging and relatable a text is, the more it reaches my students.
My students THRIVE and GROW from stories they can relate to and interact with.
Having a larger library of diverse titles that celebrate and support diversity, growth mindset, and character development will help to better engage my students in important lessons guided by our read alouds. The addition of these titles to our classroom library will also guide many collaborative conversations and projects which are critical to shaping the mindset and confidence of my little leaders.
