My students love technology but need to learn how to use the World Wide Web in a productive and meaningful way. They are the generation that will always have information within their hands 24/7, so they need to start becoming the generators and evaluators of the information they see. The students in my school do not all have access to technology in their homes. We are a Title I school with 67% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch. We have a high migrant rate and about 40% of our students do not speak English at home. Education is the great equalizer, and this would be one way to even the playing field for students in terms of access to the social interaction of the Internet that our students will most certainly be a part of in their work and recreational futures.
