My students come from very diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds leading to many different perspectives in my classes. Accessing these new ideas and different perspectives while creating a connection between the content and their lives is a challenge I take seriously every day. By creating interactive-hands on lessons I try to engage my students to not only become better students but better historians as well.
In our Social Studies class we study ancient civilizations using both primary and secondary sources. My Social Studies classroom is designed to develop essential Social Studies skills including: citing evidence in argumentative written responses, participating in fishbowl discussions, analyzing and annotating primary and secondary sources, participating in historical investigations and Project Based Learning assignments, and creating digital pieces of work using Google Docs and Slides.
