Students will learn environmental science through STEM learning of a real world problem of an ongoing water pollution concern in our area over the last 20 years. How can we rebuild seware lines to keep raw sewage from overflowing downstream after heavy rain?
Students will learn how to test water and soil samples and through research find a solution to this real problem by constructing and testing a model with the help of local experts in our area.
Students will also have more in depth learning of how to test for acid rain, air quality, and do a mock test on contaminated water of Carter's Creek through a STEM kit and LaMotte Pond water kit to prepare for their task. Our middle school experts will then present their projects to local partners in our area.
