I currently teach a class of ELL students in a portable with no student computers. Three laptops in my class would enable my beginner language learners to access audiobooks, listening practice, and language learning programs that would help them catch up to their peers and afford them the differentiation they need in the classroom. They would get much needed practice in reading, writing, and listening, as well as phonics and vocabulary.
In addition, computers would be used for students to be able to access grades, edit essays, take retakes, do research, and finish assignments. Typically we have to wait for one of the computer carts shared by the school to have computer access - computers in the classroom would allow my students more opportunities for success and more ready access to technology that would enhance their learning.
