I am requesting 8 pairs of over-the-ear headphones for our "listen to reading" center. My students will use the headphones to listen to books being read to them on Raz-Kids and Epic! books on our iPads. Listening to reading is a research-backed literacy activity that supports student's growth as a fluent reader, especially students whose first language is not English. All of my readers, but especially my large group of ELL students, will get excited about reading, learn new vocabulary, and improve their fluency at our "listen to reading" center. We won't be able to do this without headphones to hear the texts!
