I am requesting some alternative seating choices that would provide my students with the ability to move while seated. I often have students standing in class because they express they can focus better while moving. My students have shared with me they appreciate the times during class where they are able to choose their learning spot and seat. I want to give my students more seating options, such as the use of the Hokki stool and stability balls.
Every child deserves an environment in which they can thrive. Students that are able to meet their needs, including their desire to move, will be able to focus on the instruction and curriculum being presented. I want to give my students every opportunity to meet those basic needs.
