Kindergarten today is NOT the Kindergarten we attended in the 80s/90s; there are no naps, crafts, and finger painting. Today, there are reading, writing, math, science, and social studies standards. The students are expected to read, write, add, and subtract, by the end of the school year! The academic rigor has increased substantially! By adding tablets to our classroom academic centers, the students will have another means to practice the foundational skills necessary to be a successful student. They will also be motivated to learn, due to the highly engaging and fun apps! As the learning facilitator, I will be able to differentiate instruction by choosing appropriate apps and levels for the students. I will also be able to monitor their progress through their electronic portfolio, enrich and intervene as needed.
