I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school. The 21 children I teach are a wonderful, wiggly bunch of first graders who come to school everyday with a determination to learn, but many are faced with daily struggles both in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face, my students continue to work hard everyday to meet our school-wide expectations, have positive attitudes, achieve goals and make wise choices. One thing I strive for is to keep things fun and to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. I want our classroom to be a safe, stress free environment in which my students can learn.
