Many students have difficulty sitting still for long periods of time. This increases behavior concerns and failure to focus on academics. Some of the things that I see on a daily basis are students rolling on the ground, walking around the room at inappropriate times, pencil tapping and the inability to sit still. These tasks ultimately result in behavior redirections and loss of important and valuable instructional time. What I'd like to do by adding flexible seating is to give these students some options as to how direct their energy in a positive and non-distracting way.
The donations to this project will greatly improve my classroom by reducing the number of behavioral issues because I will be able to provide the appropriate stimulation that my students need but cannot voice. These flexible seating options will allow them to get their wiggles out, continue to keep that blood pumping through their little brains to afford them the most positive work environment.
