I teach a classroom of self contained students with intellectual disabilities as well as other exceptionalities. We have a very diverse cultural population with a variety of income levels, but more than a third of our school comes from a low-income household. We also serve a high amount of military families. Despite any disabilities, all of my wonderful students come to school everyday eager to learn. My students are passionate, eccentric, beautiful, intelligent, and all-around amazing. When you look into their eyes, you know that they are eager to consume knowledge. These students appreciate each and every day that they spend in the classroom. They know that they're going to use their minds in the most creative and innovative ways possible. My students work extremely hard and have become a family, due to the fact they often stay with me as long as 3-4 years. This also means I always need new ways to engage them!
