If my classroom was awarded a new rug the students would gain comfort and their education would soar! The new rug would provide an open and spacious area for whole group instruction in all academic areas. We begin everyday at the rug area for our morning meeting and phonics word building. All lessons begin at the rug area in a whole group setting. We would use this area when teaching calendar, phonics, spelling skills, center areas and social and communication lessons. My teaching style is hands-on and engaging and this new rug would provide the needed area for movement and interactive lessons, which are apparent across all academic topics and curriculum.
The classroom rug would also provide a warm and safe place for the students to gather, while helping provide structure and consistency of where to sit. We currently do not have a rug, leaving students sitting on the hard floor. A rug would allow for all students to be welcomed in our safe and loving environment. In first grade, the use of the classroom rug is an essential and extremely useful tool!
The use of the classroom rug is extremely important. My students would gain more from instruction by having enough space and not having distractions from tattered pieces of the current rug. In a primary classroom the rug is the core of the classroom. Through being blessed with a new rug, we would gain more from lessons and interactions, develop a better environment, and experience a wonderful first grade year!
Having a new classroom rug would better my students education and truly make a huge difference.
