In the world of kindergarten, it is extremely important for students to have the opportunity to express themselves. I want to provide an area where students can be free to glue, paint, and create whatever they want and have a space that they can properly dry their masterpieces. In the past, I have used clothes pins to dry artwork, but the sadness in their eyes when they see that their paint ran from hanging is heartbreaking. I have also used the tops of our cubbies as a space to dry artwork, but they are unable to do this independently. This makes it difficult for kiddos to utilize the space during free time because I am usually working on independent testing and cannot readily put their artwork in a safe place to dry. It is extremely important for my students to have access to a drying rack that they can use at their leisure.
I want my room to be filled with dreamers and creators. I want my students to feel pride in their work and in turn see that I have taken the time to produce a space for them to do so. These years of expression are so important in a little ones life. I love seeing the excitement in their eyes whenever they create something that they are proud of!
