To promote independent reading in our classroom, students will have the opportunity to read to their stuffed animals. The children to can choose a book that interests them, and then choose to read by looking at the pictures, reading the words, or retelling the story in sequence. Once students build confidence reading with their buddies, my goal is for them to read with other peers and/or by themselves by the end of the school year.
These reading buddies will promote academic success in reading. They will also inspire the love of reading to allow our children to thrive in our competitive society.
