Though technology is an integral piece of society today, many of my students have limited to no access to technology outside of our classroom. As a result, my students are extremely motivated when technology is integrated in our learning experiences.
With increasing class sizes, the addition of five Chromebooks would allow my students to have consistent access to the Chromebooks; the addition of the headphones will enhance the experiences students have while working on the Chromebooks, particularly for my English Language Learners.
In our classroom, I strive to introduce my students to relevant texts and literature. My students are deep thinkers, inquisitive, and interested in real world issues. The Chromebooks would allow my students regular access to online articles and news. The Chromebooks would also allow them to delve deeper into their inquiries, research topics of interest, and potentially find ways to act upon their passions. My students would have the opportunity to explore different formats of publishing their writing and sharing their ideas, or even participate in blogs as a mode of literature conversations. As they explore all of this, my students will gain real world problem solving and technology skills while simultaneously reaching their learning goals and standards.
Our current math curriculum provides an extensive online component, which allows students to work on differentiated skills. I have previously not been able to provide this opportunity to my students, due to the limited access to technology that I currently have within my classroom. The Chromebooks would allow the online component of our math curriculum to be a consistent piece of my students’ learning and our math routines. Students would have regular access to differentiated games, activities, and guided practice specific to their individual learning needs.
Chromebooks and headphones in our classroom could provide endless learning experiences to my students!
