I teach a wonderful group of 3 and 4 year olds with Autism, developmental disorders, speech delays, and/or other similar needs in a self contained special education preschool/preK class in DC. Like all young children, my students are learning everyday how to be at school and discovering what they love. For my students, some parts of this journey of discovery and education come with additional challenges, which they work hard to overcome.
While my students learn their ABCs, how to count, and prepare to read and write, they are also learning how to communicate, working on social interactions, and trying to find ways to manage and regulate different sensory needs.
Every year, I get to be a part of their growth and discovery, and every year I am so proud of the personal, developmental, and academic progress each student makes.
My students work hard and are proud of the skills they learn. And we are proud of them!
