My students are eager, young learners, just starting out, what may be their first learning/classroom experience. They are Kindergarten students that come from different social class backgrounds, and different upbringings. They attend a public school in a middle class neighborhood that also boarders a low social economic housing complex. I love how young students want to learn and are excited to come to school. Their smiles and excitement appeal to my teacher sense, and I honestly miss it over the summer break. Some of my students are not encouraged to do their best or to even attend school on a regular basis. I try to keep them engaged and eager to learn, this way they will want to keep coming back for more. I try to instill in them that they can be anything they want to be, and that their knowledge is a beautiful and powerful gift. I want all of my students to receive this gift and power.
