My students are intrigued by pottery. Many have never experienced working with clay. We are fortunate that our school system has provided us with amazing large equipment. We have six pottery wheels, two kilns, and a large slab roller to boot! Despite having awesome equipment, we still lack the basic small tools needed to make ceramics work. To use the wheels, my students need trimming tools and shaping tools. They need tools to cut clay and refine their work. They also need clay itself! I am fortunate to be able to offer ceramics courses for the first time, and I hope to make the experience a great one for my students!
This year, my 3D design students will get to use these tools and our new equipment of the first time, and many of those students will go on to take ceramics next school year and will be able to continue using the quality tools I have requested.
