Starting as a brand new teacher in a Title I-funded school has been an exciting experience. I've always known I've wanted to work with children and preK is the foundation of a students path to an education. Children learn through hands on materials and projects. I plan to use these items to work on sight word recognition, fine motor skills, and mathematical inquiry.
I will be re-arranging my classroom to accommodate a reading corner. The bookshelf and flex seating chairs will allow for a cozy corner for kids to snuggle up with a book. Letter recognition, letter sounds, and basic math skills like one to one counting and measuring are skills that we work on in the first half of the year. After teaching for half the year already, I find myself constantly seeking out materials from other preK classrooms. It would be nice to gain some of my own materials so that I may return the favor and share with them.
Thank you so much for your contribution!! I am excited for the years to come!
