Flexible seating is an excellent way to empower students with choice, promote ownership of their learning and provide students with comfort within the classroom. Students whom are uncomfortable in the classroom often become distracted and disengaged. Currently, my students sit in chairs at their desks or on the floor around the room to complete their work. By implementing the use of balance balls, wobble chairs and bean bags, students will be able to get out excess energy without disrupting their learning and the learning of those around them.
My goal is to have a classroom where my students feel safe, comfortable and eager to learn.
Flexible seating options in the classroom will foster a sense of community and motivate my students to remain focused throughout the school day. With options of movement and varied seating choices in the classroom, students will remain more engaged in their learning and have fun while doing it.
