My students are 7th and 8th grade students who attend a Title I middle school in a lower SES area. My classes include a diverse group of learners; English Language Learners, Special Needs of various labels, Gifted, children in foster care, homeless, and many other backgrounds. Many of these students do not have access to basic art materials and have only had experiences in art education through their elementary school, once every six days. Now that they are in Middle School, they have an hour of Art every day for one full semester. I want to make that all that it can possibly be for them.
