My classroom is student centered. This means that my students are challenged with a rigorous task and take charge of their own learning by thinking critically and collaborating to find a solution. The students learn through hands on experiments, projects, and research! Each day we incorporate STEM, science, technology, engineering, and math. This requires a good amount of supplies including technology.
My students overcome challenges both in and outside school with dignity and perseverance. Much of our population comes from homes below the poverty line and come from split households, which introduces unique challenges. Fifty-two percent of our population receives free and reduced lunch. Many of my students do not have computer or internet access at home.
