I work in a title one school which means it is a school that because there are so many low income families the school is all on free breakfast and lunch. Some of my 1st graders are aunts or uncles, live with their grandparents because their parents are in jail, need their older sister to talk to me because their parents refuse to learn English, but want their kids to succeed and learn English. I have some who, sadly, don't know where they are going to lay their head tomorrow night.
