Learning that includes Science Technology Engineering and Math or STEM gets students engaged and prepares them for the changing workforce. STEM learning creates meaningful education experiences and allows for natural crossover between subjects. It helps students gain confidence in themselves and learn to look for answers on their own instead of relying on someone to give them information.
STEM knowledge extends beyond career prep; it's knowledge for life.
Students will learn to work with others, apply a growth mindset to challenges and problem solve. Students that can internalize these messages early on will have a jump start on their peers and will be on track to engage more fully in all aspects of their lives.
Littlebits provide students with a hands-on means of exploring coding and engineering. Littlebits are color coded components that can be magnetically joined to build anything from a sibling alarm to a digital instrument. I can design team STEM challenges that utilize these tools for team building and concept exploration. I also plan to have individual challenges that students can choose and build towards.
