Welcome to my first classroom with the School District of Philadelphia, where I will be teaching in a transitional-model bilingual 4th grade classroom at Alexander K. McClure Elementary! After teaching 3rd grade in Camden, NJ during the 2015-16 school year, English as a Second Language(ESL) in Chestnut Hill, PA in 2014-15, and 3rd grade (and ESL) abroad in Kurdistan, northern Iraq in 2012-13, I am so delighted to come back to Philadelphia, where I will draw on all of the latter experiences to connect with and inspire my students. I hope to partner with Latino families in my new school neighborhood to make our classroom and school work for them, and to give their children access to the rigorous, cross-cultural, multidisciplinary, student-centered, multi-modal, technologically connected education that all children deserve to have, regardless of their race, zip code, or any other aspect of their identity.
