During the formal training that my district sponsored for the new SpringBoard curriculum, the instructors were adamant that the content could be taught without the use of technology. This is not acceptable. Many of the schools in our district are able to offer these resources to a majority of their students. My students need and deserve access to the digital resources and online programs that SpringBoard offers.
I hope to provide my students with the same opportunities that they would find in other schools that have the funding or the support to access technology. My students are lacking in computer skills because they are not often exposed to using computers other than testing. Having a set of chromebooks with give them consistent chances to use and learn how to use computers as a valuable resource instead of a place to play games.
