My students are in desperate need of STEAM materials for our future Collaboratory (STEAM Lab). These materials will give all pre-K-6th-grade students the opportunity to create and engineer collaboratively in all subject areas! The focus point of our Collaboratory is a LEGO wall that will allow students to tinker, create, and become master builders of their future!
We want our teachers to have the opportunity to provide a public education experience that is motivating, challenging, and rewarding for all students. Like the county's mission statement, we hope to increase student achievement by providing students with learning opportunities that are rigorous, relevant, and transcend beyond the boundaries of the school walls. I believe that our students can achieve our school and county goals by providing equity and access for all students to be successful through creative and collaborative hands-on activities. These hands-on activities will also benefit hand-eye coordination as well as fine motor skills. Various standards will be taught such as raising questions about the natural world, solving open-ended problems, creating and utilizing models to make observations and/or test hypotheses for real-world application, realizing the importance of communication and collaboration among scientists, and many more.
