The ukulele is a wonderful and ideal instrument for the elementary music classroom. They are portable, lightweight and easy for young students to play. Playing the ukulele together can create a sense of communal accomplishment and I look forward to doing pop-up ukulele performances for our school and community. In an era of unknowns and limited singing/woodwind opportunities due to Covid-19; I know that learning an instrument like the ukulele will be an engaging musical experience for students. Many of our traditional classroom instruments are old and dated. With the ukulele, students will have the opportunity to learn a new instrument and further gain excitement for music and the arts in our schools. Thank you for your consideration!
