As you already know, my students only have a limited amount of time in my classroom to work on their masterpieces. Our projects may take one class period, or four - resulting in a month long project! We take advantage of video tutorials on how to draw certain subjects, or I demonstrate the steps myself. However, sometimes the students get the chance to trace designs and other images in order to focus on the other elements of art afterwards.
There is a huge struggle for my whole class to trace since we have to improvise our tools. About four students can use the projector board at a time, or one student traces using the light from the window. During this time, students are standing up trying to keep their papers still. It would be amazing and extremely beneficial for these students if we could use light boxes instead. They are easier to use and will help shorten time spent on sketching images out. This essential tool will enhance their craftsmanship skills and will drive them to be the artists they aspire to be.
