I teach a diverse student population from an urban area in Phoenix, Arizona. The majority of my students come from humble, hardworking families who often struggle to put food on the table. Many of my students are responsible for contributing to basic household expenses such as electricity and water.
Notwithstanding these challenges, I never cease to be amazed at the gratitude and energy with which these students attack their studies. Many students aim to be the first in their family to graduate from high school or college. They are ambitious and motivated to make the most of their public education. I'm also impressed by their creativity and desire to improve the community around them.
I could not ask for a better group of students to teach!
