My students don't have the money to join a gym or purchase expensive fitness equipment to stay in shape and keep up with a healthy lifestyle. Therefore I have a responsibility to teach them what they can do on their own to maintain a healthy weight.
Statistics show that 80% of kids will be overweight or obese if their parents are. I am trying to break the cycle. I plan on using the music to teach yoga and dance or individual movement in addition to competitive sports. For students that are overweight, there is a higher success rate if they are taught to use their own body weight to get in shape as opposed to competitive sports.
