My students are used to rocking out on any of our classroom instruments during music class. Unfortunately during these times, we cannot share the materials we are so used to using. Even singing puts us all at risk. With their own materials, there will be no cross contamination.
Whether it is playing in a group or reading rhythms, these are musical skills that will ensure their preparation for the fantastic musical experiences we are able to provide in our school system. In addition to musical skills, their brains will also be getting a workout as we develop coordination.
The challenge of providing students with their own materials is the money adds up quickly. Without the proper funding, it is hard to provide my students with the equitable musical experiences they deserve.
