Do you remember being in middle school? Raging hormones, figuring out who *you* are, determining what your life goals will be, becoming a valuable member of society, and more are all part of those beginning teen years. On top of the struggles of being a teenager, many of my students struggle with poverty, broken homes, family struggles, community struggles, and fearing their own safety day in and day out. Woodbridge, Virginia doesn't sound like a scary place, but for many students it is. In addition to battling for students attention when their minds are elsewhere as teenagers, I'm battling to find a way to make them care about their education. My ultimate goal is to provide an outstanding academic education revolving around the Language Arts curriculum. However, to do this I must grab their attention on other ways, just to get them to buy in to what I'm "selling".
