I work in a Title I, Urban public charter school for students with language-based learning differences such as Dyslexia. Most of my students struggle with reading and many come to my school reading well below grade level, or not reading at all.
Most of my students are reluctant readers, but they are bright, funny and engaging students. In order to help them read, we employ an evidence-based multi-sensory approach to literacy. This approach often requires unique support in terms of supplies and resources.
