During this past school year, I gave my students the opportunity to move around the classroom to complete independent and/or group work. Students enjoyed the freedom of being able to lay down, stand, or sit comfortably to complete assignments, and it showed in their work and their grades. The only drawback was that I did not have any options for students to use.
Research suggests that kids learn better when they are in motion, and that sitting for long periods of time is unhealthy.
I want to provide my students with flexible seating options that will allow them to learn best, while creating the best learning situation for every one of my students. Having flexible seating options will give my students the opportunity to make responsible choices, while giving them the confidence they need to take control of their learning.
