Students need to become involved participants in their learning. This can happen with students being allowed to be active while learning. These requested flexible seating items will allow students to have motion while learning which will increase their retention of what is taught.
Flexible seating allows for active learning in today's classrooms. Students will be able to take ownership of their learning by vocalizing and identifying their needs for the appropriate seating. Students will come in and have the choice of where they want to sit based on what they need for the day.
In my project I am asking for wobble chairs, balance balls, stools, wobble pads, yoga pads, and bands for the students chairs. These seating options will help students with their focus in the classroom. The wobble stools and balance balls will be used at desks to help students be able to move their bodies, but still focus on their work. The wobble pads allow students to sit on standard chairs but have the ability to have movement while they are sitting on the chair. The yoga pads will sit around the room so that students can have comfortable seating options. The bands will be placed on chairs so that students can bounce their feet while they are focusing on assignments in the classroom.
All of these options will empower my students to choose the seating option that will fit their needs for the day. They will be able to focus on their school work while also having their needs met.
