As the Almira K-5 Math and Science Specialist, I am always looking to engage students in hands on exploration! We live in a very rural environment in Eastern Washington with less than 500 people in our community, and less than 50 elementary students. Three communities combine for our the ACH Middle School (Gr 6-8) with approximately 70 students. In our agricultural setting, we are surrounded by many real life engineering examples through large equipment using state of the art technologies, coding, global positioning applications, and mapping.
Because we are so remote, we utilize technology to help connect our students to the larger world, and opportunities. We have a very dynamic group of learners, visual, kinesthetic, and tactile. It is essential we teach with a variety of tools and experiences to create the greatest learning adventures.
