It's opening night! Backstage is buzzing with nervous excitement and last minute to-dos. Months and months of grueling rehearsals have all led up to this one moment. The spotlights come on. Everyone holds their breath. And then, finally, the curtain opens.
There is no greater joy than watching your students blossom under the stage lights. All of my show choir students are incredible performers, but our performances suffer from severe sound limitations. We would like to put on our first musical theater production this upcoming school year, but we are in desperate need of wireless microphones to amplify our sound and allow for freedom of movement.
This project would not only have a positive impact on the students in choir, but also on the school as a whole, many of whom have never been exposed to choir, much less musical theater. Statistics show that students involved in music/theater education have stronger reading comprehension and math skills as well as a lower drop-out rate and better attendance. My goal is to build a quality music and theater program here where none has previously existed and this donation will bring us so much closer to making that dream a reality!
