I am a first-year teacher, hoping to inspire my students in their love of STEM. By giving my classroom of second graders hands on materials, such as GoldiBlox or Playdoh, they can use their un-tapped creativity to build and experiment in a plethora of different ways. Reading books in the classroom is also a great way to show students the important mindsets that go along with STEM. One of the main mindsets that STEM can teach my students is that failure is normal, and that it is okay. A book that exemplifies this mindset is "What Do You Do With An Idea". Not only can this mindset be applied to STEM ideals, it can be used in everyday life, both in and out of the classroom.
