Located in Shelton Washington, a Title 1 school district, many of my students receive food from our food bag program because they don't have food to eat at home. In addition, our school is lacking parent support and extra funds to purchase items needed for enriching lessons. Teachers are spending their own money to buy math games, art supplies, flash cards, math manipulatives, and other things needs to enhance our classroom curriculum and make learning fun and contextual for our students. My students love to have art time and create special pieces. It is hard for me to find the time in my busy schedule to do so, but when I do, we are lacking supplies.
