Currently, we are learning how to play music by ear on the recorder. I take suggestions from students of appropriate contemporary songs and teach them how to play the tunes on the recorder, piano or xylophone. They discover how easy it is to play what they hear by using tips on listening to whether the melodies go up or down. The joy on their faces when they 'get it' is wonderful to watch.\r\n\r\nMy next steps with students are to have them improvise songs on an upcoming program for the school and community.
