Because of your kindness, our student interns—young adults ages 18–22 with severe intellectual disabilities—now have access to materials and spaces that make their daily school experience more meaningful, skill-building, and joyful.\r\nThe addition of art supplies and our new art tray has transformed the way our interns participate in creative projects. These materials allow us to run multiple hands-on activities at once, giving students opportunities to practice fine-motor skills, self-expression, and collaboration. Many of our interns look forward to art time as a highlight of their day, and the structure provided by the art tray and organizational tools has helped them develop routines for setting up, cleaning up, and taking responsibility for shared materials.\r\nThe calming canopy and designated calming space have also made a tremendous impact. Several interns use this area daily—some enjoy the sensory comfort of the canopy itself, while others benefit simply from having a quiet, organized space tailored to their needs. This environment supports emotional regulation, independence, and self-advocacy, as students are learning when and how to request a break and care for their own well-being.\r\nYour donation of organizational boxes, storage pocket charts, and the construction paper storage container has brought new life to our classroom systems. These tools help our interns practice practical organizational and vocational skills, such as sorting, labeling, restocking, and maintaining shared materials. These are essential skills they will carry with them into future workplaces and daily living environments.\r\nMost importantly, our interns feel valued. They see that there are people beyond our classroom who believe in their potential and want them to succeed. On behalf of our entire class, thank you for making our learning environment safer, calmer, more creative, and more empowering. Your generosity has a direct and lasting impact on our students' growth, confidence, and independence.","fullyFundedDate":1756387040266,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-work-based-learning-program/9482648/","projectTitle":"Help My Work-based Learning Program!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bannan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10086182"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36297","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":925,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":36,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":66,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"25.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":36297,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Orting High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Orting High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/orting-school-district/orting-high-school/36297"}
