I first spoke to my students on why specifically The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene, was important to me and why I'm happy to share this love of reading with them. We read a chapter book every couple months as part of our book club series and started this book at the start of January. \r\n\r\nEach student has a journal they write in after every chapter is read aloud. We discuss what happened in the chapter we talk about characters, setting, plot & twists. We talk in a group about what we might do in a situation one of the characters was in. Some students like to write about the chapter and then draw a picture in their journal to go with it. \r\n\r\nWhen I told the students that they would be able to take these books home after our book club was finished they were so excited. One of my students had mentioned they do not have any books at home and this will be their first. I am so thankful for the donations of these books and I am grateful these books can go home with each of my students. My goal was to inspire my students to read and be interested in mysteries and I believe that goal was reached.","fullyFundedDate":1730133112176,"projectUrl":"project/mrs-ks-class-book-club/8794381/","projectTitle":"Mrs. K.s Class Book Club","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kloster","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9754412"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36855","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":684,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":84,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"20.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":36855,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hoover Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Hoover Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/yakima-school-district-7/hoover-elementary-school/36855"}
